seattle67, is adding booster a pain or no? i wouldn't mind power drums til i can swing a disc conversion, if it improves braking that is.

adding a power booster is easy. all you need is the 67 booster and the booster brackets. also you will need a intake vacuum source

ok this link is to pic of the current rusty cylinder...note that it is equal. However i know the PO had changed it prior to parking it. so that is why im unsure of its correctness.

I got it installed Sat. i ended up just trying to match one up. the one they ordered has a different rod setup. I still think my pedal is way to high, so i may shorten the pushrod. to apply brake my knee is above the steering wheel.
when bleeding brakes pedal only travels halfway to floor when bleeder is open.
is there a picture of the brake light switch on the 67 here? I cannot remember how switch was oriented. I know it was on pushrod unlike the later models.
thanks all for your input. stay tuned i'm sure i'll be asking more questions.

who that sounds high to me. it should go to the floor when bleeding. unless it was pretty pumped up to begin with. maybe you should have got the short rodded one. are you a real tall person?

the threads on the masters usually have the adapters that come with the masters. so they can be put on correctly. is that how yours came randy?

fordman, I'm sort of tall 6'2" until i sort out the rod, i'm just going back and forth to work. It is like 10 blocks from house on less traveled roads.
my threads were rightly oriented, fighting with the rod is why i didn't get the brake light switch installed.
the long rod is why the pedal won't go to floor, the piston is fully engaged by time pedal is half down. but it stops like nobodies business :D
Now i am just working on the light issue, until it warms up so i can patch floor and primer it.

just for fun i measured the height on my pedals.
clutch pedal measures 6.5" from slope of floor to top of pedal.
brake pedal however is 11 3/4" from slope to top of pedal. i figure i will be able to shorten the pushrod by 3-4" unless someone finds a 67 pushrod :D

i'll see if i can find my receipt, i just know that the one the computer listed had the wrong kind of piston, my rod wouldn't go in it. Advance can't order just the pushrod, so we just pulled a few til we found a similar one. it came with a new rod.... go figure, mine called for re-using the rod. :dk:

so the problem was that your rod wouldnt fit the first new master you bought as well as the different sized resivors? or they didnt have equal resivors that would fit your rod.

they didn't have any that showed equal reservoirs, when i looked it up in the paper catalog it didn't even list a master for '67. I looked under f100,vans, and broncos (2wd). one actually listed the part # that computer said i needed. When i went to pick it up i had my old one in hand, it was useful as it turned out. The one that was called for didn't come with a new rod or keeper for rod. The rod end was only like 1/2 inch deep, the area on my rod end was like 1 1/2" tapered and had keeper ring about 1/2 from end. It sits at 1 1/2 inside the piston. Had i tried that one i wouldn't have been able to connect it at all.
The PO told me when he gave me the truck that he had changed the master, and that the pedal didn't sit that high until he did. This has been part of my dilemma. I may ave been comparing apples to oranges so to speak.

4th effie, I realize that you don't have a booster (yet) but take a look at this link if you decide to go to one sooner than later. Thunderfoot gave me the heads up on this as I plan on installing a booster/MC from a '75 and the i-beams, spindles, rotors, etc. from a '78. I'm just wondering if you've got and had the wrong pushrod all along or more likely the wrong master cylinder as you mentioned that the PO told you that the pedal was high ever since he installed the master. The whole disc brake front end, booster/MC, prop. valve, etc. were fairly inexpensive at the local U-pull-it yard. Just a thought.

I plan on making a few trips to yards, there use to be one around Fayetteville TN called honea's i'm going to try and find it. All they had was trucks/buses, & box trucks. I went there back when i had my dent.
I want brake parts and a 67 drivers door.
