for flistr8, the dash pad has about 12 or nuts mounting to the inside of the dashboard. its kinda time consuming but should'nt take that long to remove it

I put mine in last week. Like hotrod ford said it is time consuming you have to take out the radio, ash tray, glove box, and dash. there a 14 3/8 nuts all over. then I put it on my 1 ton I only put on 9 nuts back on. I only take out the dash and glove box and put the ones back on that I could reach help out a lot and saved time.

Many thanks. I'm thinking if I can R & R it myself, it won't cost me that much to get it recovered at the upholstery shop.

I think they look much better with the pad. Ya spend a couple hundred thousand miles behind the wheel of bumps and an interior without a dashpad is just wierd.

I prefer the look of the dash pad. Not that the dash looks bad without it (esp. if you fill in the holes), but as someone else said it just looks more "finished" with it.

ALSO... if you plan to have passengers in your truck and don't plan to install shoulder belts, put in a dash pad for safety. Someone hitting his/her head on the metal dash during an accident would be bad news, compared to hitting it on a pad.

LOL there a lot dang better then LMC JUNK. I was talking to the guy thats painting my truck and after looking on hear at what ever one saying Im going to put a pad in it. + he can get it for 120 And not pay for shipping. And for my seats and headliner its going to be all back and Chrome 8) Same with the door panels but there not going to be that cheep looking abs stuff. And for the paint its that gold that ford only had for 2 years 71 and 72. In the 70s a lot of people had that paint. Now days you dont ever see it . The last things I got from lmc was soo bad all the rubbers for the glass was not right so I had to cut them where the glass woud fit into the slot. The anti rattle kit after 4 weeks thay was rusting bed bolts was wrong. Now ever thing ive got from dc was great no problems what so ever.

The conclution here is that it is better than a badly cracked and faded dash, but not anything near that the original. You can clearly tell that it is a cover and it does not fit all that well.

Since you have to look at it every time you drive the truck I would get a new one or a good used one.

I would even recover a cracked one before using the cover.
