Change to Paper Element from Oil Bath Air Cleaner

Post by shorty73 »

I'd like to swap out my oil bath cleaner for a paper style air cleaner to avoid having to dunk it in kerosene and blow it out. Just seems like a big mess that I can avoid. The heat riser and manifold tin are still on the truck and I'd like to keep those to help it warm up quicker. My question is, can i pick up any air cleaner from around that vintage (1968) and just swap on the snorkel from my current setup? I'm assuming the diameter and basic shape of the paper style air cleaner is consistent to allow for adding my existing snorkel. Any one have solid info before I head into ebay (or maybe Picknpull if something fresh pops up)?
