Where can I purchase brake parts for drum brakes not made in China. I'm doing a complete brake job from the master all the way down to the wheel cylinders including rubber brake hoses and shoes.
No one has any brake parts not made in China. Called all the big chain parts stores including NAPA
My local hot rod/speed shop checked sources for me and all the MADE IN USA PARTS were no longer available!I could send out my shoes to be relined but everything else is China sourced including master and wheel cylinder kits.
Rubber hoses are also made in China.
Anyone used this Chinese stuff?? Did it work OK, was it reliable and did the parts fit?
I don't want to use Chinese parts on m Classic F-100

If you want made in US parts you could look for NOS parts on eBay/craigslist, but it will probably be pretty pricey.
Using NAPA or O'Reilly parts minus drums is less than 100 bucks! Cheap enough. I tow my boat occasionally to the river for a fishing trip and wouldn't want any brake failures. The reason for the brake job is replacing the PO's brakes he did previously.
I was backing the trailer down the ramp to pull the boat out of the water when the brake pedal went to the floor and I almost ended up with the trailer and truck going in the water and sinking to the bottom of the river! I had to do a hard left, jackknifing the trailer and bending the tongue!Bummer, had to fix the trailer too and get towed home by Triple A!

Ditto. Other than my Mexican cast iron master cylinder that keep draining itself around the lid gasket my brakes have been fine. Found the Chinese drums were a fraction of the cost of Ford's and were a lot heavier construction.

Interesting. I had the opposite experience with my Fairlane. Bought new Chinese drums at O'reillys and had to swap 'em twice. They were badly warped right out of the box. Gave 'em back and bought Raybestos drums from Rockauto. Made in Canada and the difference was like night and day. Much heavier and even shaped closer to original. Even cheaper too. Same with the shoes. Bought the Brake Best brand and they cracked during the test drive but that might have had something to do with the warped Chinese drums. Traded them back in and spent the extra money for the Wagner's. Probably still Chinese but better quality.

After I installed the left front brake parts I tried to loosen the bleeder and found out it is 10 millimeters instead of an SAE size. What was worse it was on so tight I rounded it off and had to take the brakes apart and remove the wheel cylinder, clamp it in the vice and use vice grips to get it off.
So, I checked the other 3 cylinders and they too were really tight and had to clamp them in the vice and use a socket to remove them. The one I already installed on the front had no room for a socket and that's why I had to remove it. Back to NAPA for replacement of the rounded off one!
My drums were in great condition with virtually no ridge worn in and were well within tolerance. They had "Made in Canada" molded into the drum. Going to do the rears today so I hope all goes well.
