Dream Beams

Post by OzarkDarter »

Greetings all.

I have recently acquired a 69 F100. The previous owner has installed would appear to be dream beams. The truck is really "bouncey" as if it doesn't have shocks: which of course it does. The entire front end is appears to be new so I don't think it's bad shocks. Any ideas why its this way? Maybe the springs are not matched to the engine weight properly?

the springs are there to hold the weight, the shocks are there to control the rate of spring load and unload. If it is bouncy, my guess is shocks. I have seen guys heat the springs and then yes, low spring rate will increase shock loading and the shocks on these trucks are not valved for that. Some food for thought though
