Questions about Keith's "Polishing Trim with Lye"

Hey everyone, I just had a few quick questions about polishing the aluminum trim with the Red Devil Lye.

Lets take this as an example.... If I took my '68 grill off of my truck, and followed Keith's steps in his tutorial, It would look as shiny as his headlight doors?

some questions:

1.) How much is Red Devil Lye and how much does it take to do a grill?
2.) If you are doing all polishing by hand, it it possible with much determination?
3.) Can you stop in the middle of a process and let it sit overnight, or does it all have to be done at once?
4.) Can the grill be soaked in Lye on my concrete driveway?
5.) Do I have to use a Tripoli compound?
6.) How long would it last if I didn't get it re-anodized?
