FRONT BRAKE--HARD RIGHT PULL

Post by Dan »

My 67 Ranger with drums all around has completely rebuilt rear brakes and the front look great, but about every 2 out of 3 stops it pulls HARD (like almost off the road hard) to the right, non-power brakes. But then the third time or so it will stop pretty much straight and normal.

those are just estimated examples, basically it pulls hard more times than it doesn't.

Truck just came out of a 5 year coma in the garage, does this sound like a wheel cylinder issue, or maybe bad brake line or master cylinder issue?

Not the master cylinder that makes it pull to one side

More like a brake line that is collapsed

Look a the left side rubber line and see if it is any harder or softer than the right side one

Thanks, I think I am going to go ahead and replace both wheel cylinders and lines, couldn't hurt on an old truck for what it costs. The collapsing line makes more sense after driving it a few more times, the pull isn't consistent every time in how hard it pulls or how often, like most other brake issues tend to be.

Thanks again!

I hope you already have this solved, but my guess is that the brake line on the right front is going bad from the inside. I had the exact same symptoms and was pointed to the rubber inside the line causing an intermittent blockage. I verified it during a brake bleed. I replaced the line and haven't had a problem since.
