Wings

Post by pockets1776 »

I've been dumb, but thought it would go away when I got old. Not so much... When I was young, I always wanted a set of SW Wings gauges. Well, I got a set for this project. Between my dumb, and the Spanglish instructions, the fuel gauge got hooked up wrong and never did work (36"x1/4" maple dowel sufficed). Something about a little electrical gizmo that either the gauge or the sending unit plugs into. It got lost in the shuffle.
1. Is my gauge fubar?
2. What is the correct fuel gauge/sending unit hookup?

My apologies for posting this in the wrong section. Moderators, feel free to move it if you feel it necessary.

Crawling through my Summit catalog, tonight, I discover that they carry my gauges and they are still too danged expensive. They do, however, sell them individually. If my fuel gauge is toast, it becomes a $50 fix. I also learned that there are two variations;
1. 240-33 ohm
2. 0-90 ohm.
3. HELP!?!

Neither of those will work with a Ford sending unit... Up until 1986, the Ford ohm range was 73-10 (73 empty, 10 full). If you look at other fuel gauges, you will see options for 73-10 ohm ratings... So that is what you will need in the units you are looking at.

You can see more about the ohm range here: http://www.fordification.com/tech/fuel- ... -units.htm
