shock recommendation for 69 ranger 2wd

Post by tpl77 »

...it has a 351w in it from 1991. It's ready for shocks. Your input is appreciated. If there's anything to increase the stability up front (other than a kit) feel free to offer it. I see a kit in my future, but for now just to put new shocks on the truck should settle it down. It has that trampoline feel right now when you push down on a fender... Thanks!

Then add a front swaybar from a 75-79 Dentside.

I can't find where the Bilstein shock offers one that fits the truck. Is there part numbers that I could reference for front shocks and rear shocks?

The Bilsteins pictured above are the front shocks - Shockwarehouse item #24-184656, Bilstein PN F4-B46-1105-H1

I'm lowering the rear using the spring hanger flip method and have not yet spec'ed shocks for the mod.

..thanks Silver. I went on Bilstein's site and tried to look up the part number, and for a 69 f100 it said not available. I do, however, have disc brakes up front so a PO made the swap at some point. I should be fine. Thanks for your input.

Wow, what a difference. I replaced the front shocks on Saturday and feel a big difference. The shocks I pulled out weren't all that bad, but these are definitely a cut above. I plan to get a sway bar in the future, but for now I'm fine with the way this truck now handles.

...shockwarehouse as shown in the picture from an earlier post... they ran around $90 each. I say it's worth the extra...
