Shock replacement - lowered 72
Replaced WORN OUT gabriel red ryder shocks. Truck is lowered with axle flip and crown vic springs with bowed factory I beams. wheel well to ground is 25 inches on all four corners.
I picked these shocks up from pepboys (local parts store) in stock.
Front: Monroe Monro-Matic Plus Shocks, part number 32113. compressed 8.8 - extended 13.7 $26.00 ea
Rear: Monroe Monro-Matic Plus Shocks, part number 32075. compressed 10.62 - extended 16.4 $21.00 ea
Note* The front passenger lower shock mount bolt hits the I beam bracket when removing old shock. It can be persuaded out with large punch and hammer. Install nut on that side when you reinstall new shock.
Great improvement!!

This is good info. Can you post a picture of the truck so we can see the stance?

Re: Shock replacement - lowered 72
Got a lot of questions regarding details of drop. Here are some more pics and additional info.
-Factory I beams, bowed at old school alignment shop, $90.
-Cut off entire bumpstop bracket, the I beam only makes contact with cross member if I hit an extreme bump just right. Happens about once a month, not a hard jolt, just can hear It touch. Pic below shows cuts.
-The coils are from an 08 crown civ. They are the police (heavy duty) springs, used $30 for pair. They came off the front struts. I needed to cut 1 1/2 coil off to achieve desired drop. There is about 1 3/4 inches between I beam and frame for travel.
- Used factory spring base, retainer plate/nut, and upper retainer strap.
- From ground to top of wheel arch it measures right at 25" with a 17 inch wheel. This matches the rear with the axle flip.
Overall rides great, with camber you can live with, all for $120. Be better with power steering!

You must have about 2-1/2 to 3 inches of suspension travel between the housing and the frame.

Re: Shock replacement - lowered 72
Cool looking truck! How did the Crown Vic coils differ from stock?
I lowered my '66 by cutting two coils out of each front spring. I then had beams cold bent at alignment shop. I have 3/4" travel at the bump stops before beams hit cross member. Cutting the coils stiffened the ride and rebound is too quick. I added Doetsch Tech Nitro Slammer shocks up front. They are the best lowered shock I've used to date. I did the rear with 2" drop shackles and lowered front mounting brackets from AIM. I'm using AIM's crappy shocks out back and they are leaking oil. JUNK!
Metal to metal contact is not good. I always run with bump stops.
