Post by sam428 »

:? Has anyone built an extended cab 67-72? Thinking about doing that also. Have 4 cabs with doors to use. Any comments from anyone??

the back doors on a factory 4-door are smaller then the stock front doors. so it would be extra big and cool. :D

I saw a 68 Cheby 2x pickup that they extended the cab. Not into a four door, just extened it. It looked real sharp.

I'm thinking that an extend'd cab would be neat....if not rare. I know that they built 4 doors trucks for these years, but want something different.

I have seen it in a 67-68 chevy and it looked cool as hell. Like you said it was two door with a back cab extension (for lack of a better term). If I remember right they used those round bubble windows from a mid 70's van in the extended part for side glass.

The 73-79 cabs are about the same as the 67-72's. you could cut the x cab off the 73-79 and graft it to a 67-72 reg cab thus having an x cab 67-72 once you changed the portion of the body skin off the 73-79. :hmm: Would be a really sweet rig when you were done. Were you thinking 2wd or 4wd or one of each? :D

its been done to more trucks than you think. i saw a guy on tv who done it for a living in ohio some place. he not only extended the cab but the whole truck. frame and all. so that the same bed could still be used and all that good stuff.

Why not a short bed on a regular cab long bed frame. Extend the cab the difference in the bed lengths. Sound feasible.

I was thinking the same as 460crew. Using the extended section from a 70s supercab and re-skinning it with 67 sheetmetal. If it is a factory look you are after, you have to be careful. I have seen very few that actually looked right, meaning the extension, especially the window part, didn't look like it belonged with the rest of the truck.

It wouldn't look bad. I remember hearing of the place in Ohio. They can even build you a completely brand new Door for less than catolog. However shipping may kill you.

That would look kinda cool. I have attached a link to a company that has been doing this kinda stuff for quite a few years. He has some wild ideas. Enjoyhttp://www.bayerautoinc.com/
