auto trans length

Post by timmytim »

Does anyone know how much longer the fmx trans is to the c4? And does the c4 have a short and long tailshaft? If so what are the lengths? Are all c4 trans 28 spline? What are the best years to get from a bone yard for our bumps?

:D

I can answer yes to the tailshaft due to the following. I've owned four different C-4's in my lifetime-one being in my 76 Bronco that was married to a D24 transfer case. The others I owned having splined tailshafts that a yoke slid into. Whether there are different lengths of those I'm not sure though. Also a FYI that I had additional clutch discs added to my one C-4 as it pushed 38" dumbo mudders @ 5K RPM without failing for many years.
