Tail Gate emblem removal

Post by CRAZYDAVE »

How do I remove the big 'FORD' emblem off my tailgate without damaging it?
I see some pop rivets on the bed side of the gate, but suspect they hold down the trim clips that secure the emblem in place.
Cheers!

Hi Crazydave,

I removed one from a tailgate I bought by drilling out the pop rivets from the bedside without any damage. As a matter of fact I gave it to another member here who cleaned it up and painted it. Came out really nice.

It was quite easy to remove. Just don't go crazy with the drill, take your time.

Were you still going to reuse the molding?

I tried to post a pic of the molding I got from Lee. I cant seem to get the pics to come up. If you look through the pics in my signature, you can see the trim that I painted for my truck.
