Harley Davidson F-150 2 tone paint scheme on a 68 crew

Post by GeorgiaVTS »

I have been trying to decide what paint scheme to use on my 68 crew cab. I like the black over silver that is on some of the HD 150's. Like the one in the link. My crew cab is a factory solid black truck with red interior. I want to do something that's has black in it but not solid black when I paint it. I have thought about doing the black/silver 2 tone with seats from a late model crew. i haul wrecked cars for a couple of salvage yards and can get a pretty good deal on interior from a 2002 - 2005 crew. What do ya'll think?

The colors do work well together. Were you thinking about also adding the downward swoop at the front? Now that's something I think would look good, since it would tend to break up the straight boxy lines of this body style...and make it look a little curvier.

I say go for it!

Hey Georgia, I have been working on a drawing of a black/orange HD edition crewcab. It's not finished, but when it is, I will post it here. I think those paint schemes would look very good on our trucks. I had thought about a retro HD crew using mine, But it will be a while until I get to do anything major to my truck. I would like to see one done, good luck.

It looks pretty good so far, but I still struggle with these things when I try to exceed my ability. But that goes for most everything for most of us, until we master the next step. I will post it soon.

It crossed my mind but my greenish color really wound go with nothing H/D. I wanted to do something like the f250 had since they had the H/DF250 emblems and decals for a crewcab short box truck, But man oh man the prices of these stripes and emblems quickly changed my mind. But I do think it would look great in a old body style. I can't wait to see the art work picture.
Here is a link for the style I was thinking

Since your truck is black already two-toning as a H/D would be very cool

speaking of this, i recently saw the opposite. it was a regular cab 99 f-150 with the two tone. it even had the paint on the top of the cab going down the back.

I like the black/silver combo, but I prefer the clean original lines...There's a guy in my 'hood that has a crewcab shorty,'70 or so,on a late model 4x4 frame, painted a pale red and white...No chrome but he followed the body lines and I think it looks great...He also has late model cool wheels which really set it off...Where the chrome used to be you could put pin-striping like they did with the '90's two-tone Fords...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

My wife has me convinced to use the dark metallic gray from late model Fords with the silver and paint it in the Harley pattern. She has an unusual interest in my old truck (?)
