wondering if anyone has done this and if they encountered any problems.

here is the hole in the floor board it is big and i did not know it, it seems small when the floor mat was on it.

You can if you want, its not the greatest/safest fix but it worked for my 68 mustang I had for a while.
Would be better and stronger to weld it in, even if its only temperary.
Life is to short to worry..... be happy :D

A pre-formed replacement floor pan is only about $40 from LMC, so if you can swing it, I'd suggest that route. Of course, installing it won't be quite as simple as just pop-riveting sheetmetal over the top of this rust, but it'll be a bit more solid and permanent when welded in.

Having said that...if all you're after is just keeping the majority of the highway sludge out of the cab until you can do it right, I don't see why you couldn't at least do a temporary fix as you described.
