Re: Shoulder Harness Options (questions)
I've looked at adding shoulder belts. I found that GM belts from my bud's 84 Chevy would work, but I really don't want GM parts on my truck. So, I looked at my 81 parts truck. Not the right setup. Then I looked at my 92 F-150, and they look like a bolt in, just don't want to rob them out of that one. So, when the weather gets nicer, I'll be heading to the junkyard to find some 90's Ford truck belts to put in my 68.

Re: Shoulder Harness Options (questions)
I have the rubber plugs in the cab of my 68 for where the shoulder belts go.... Is there a nut already there I assume?
Anyone know what belts will drop in without issue? Do you use the bolt from the belts you get at the yard or is there a special bolt for our trucks?
I've got near perfect factory lap belts, but when I upgrade the interior to a new seat, new belts just seem like a good idea.

some of the nuts behind that rubber were threaded and some weren't you just have to get lucky really. as far as botl in belts. i have always thought the 80's and 90's trucks woudl probably bolt right in. the bolts that are used are the same as the ones in the floor now.

I upgraded to shoulder belts about 6 months ago. I went the "save a little money" route, and didn't get retractable belts. I don't drive my truck every day, but if I did, I think I'd want the retractable belts. Definitely a huge upgrade that I absolutely love

Perfect solution: seatbeltpros.com. Easy to order, easy to install. Look on Fordification for some threads about this.
I spent no more than $150 to get two retractable three-point belts, a center lab belt, and the hardware kits. For my 67, I had to find a Grade 8 3/8 shoulder bolt for the shoulder belts, since the supplied 7/16 will not fit the pre-drilled holes in your cab.
You will not find the right kind of bolt at a hardware store. I got my two at a local industrial hardware house.
(Those pre-drilled or pre-threaded holes used a steel block, I believe, welded I guess to the backside of the sheet metal.)
I installed belts with the chrome flip-top buckles (less expensive, look good in the truck) in beige, since my 67 has the medium beige interior.
Hope this helps.
