Lobuck, looks good...Would your original steering wheel work on that column, with the horn and turn signal guts and all?

I KNEW I'd be able to use these pictures one of these days! ;)

I was curious about this myself, since I really wanted to use an original wheel with my tilt column, so I tried this a little while ago. Unfortunately, the early wheel won't work. Not only is the tilt column's hub larger, the early wheel has protruding nubs that will hit the hub. You might be able to grind those nubs down to actually mount the wheel, but there's still the hub size difference, which would look pretty crappy IMO.

I'd like to find the factory sport steering wheel for it. There is usually one or two on ebay. best as I can tell they're bringing about 150.00, that's too rich for my blood.

Didn't the '71 have that more modern two-spoke steering wheel with the vinyl skin over the horn?...One little annoying thing about the original turn signal switch is you have to completely 'click' it in position to change lanes, something you probably remedied with the new column...As far as steering wheels, anything looks better than those bright, metalflake 'custom' ones...

I have a factory for sport steering wheel for sale. The one I have does not have any provisions for a horn, as it is from a pass.car, but all else is the same.

I thought about one of those and hooking up a horn button of some sort.
Do they fit up ok on a truck column? Maybe PM me the details and we'll toss it around. :hmm:
