Anybody know a ready source for transparent paint that you can use to tint clear lightbulbs....say for example you wanted your instrument panel to have a green tint to it at night........

Try permanent marker. Not sure if it will work good on a bulb but we use it on the inside of rescue strobe lights on the ship to simulate different stuff. I've got a nice blue one in the Shrektruck to use when someone's going too slow in front of me.
Funny how a flashing blue light makes people slow down and move over.

should try when you have an old retired highway patrol car minus the lights and whistles.

Back in the eighties and early nineties grandpa(until he died in '91. May he rest in peace! ) Would buy them from state auction when they didn't repaint them. And they still had a big old whip.

Funny everyone saw it traveling at 90 down the road pull over to other lane. and he had his Caltrans uniform on.watch them pull over then.

Robert, my dad used to do that too. He bought 11 Crown Vics and a couple Galaxies accidentally in one auction.
Took us all day to ferry them home. Took us the rest of the summer to clean them up and sell them. Made a bundle, well Dad made a bundle and I got to keep sleeping indoors and eating at the table.
Morgan, who said it's legal? I don't use that often. Funny, I was going to once but the battery was dead. Ended up passing the guy and it was a CHP. God loves me!

Walmart carries clear and colored bulbs. 194 bulbs or stock, 168 will fit and are brighter.
