For you guys with power steering

Post by CO684X4 »

Just a little heads up. My truck was changed to power steering by the PO. I noticed while getting the frame ready for paint there was a couple hairline cracks on the frame. I Just drill stoped them and welded them up. So for you guys with power steering check your frame for cracks around the gear box. Before they become a big problem.

Never ran across it myself on a Ford, but it's routine on a Chevy truck. Change plugs, wires, weld frame, filters,......

I knew that this was a problem on the chevys and was kinda surprised to see it on the ford. Just thought I would send a heads up to everyone out there.

That was awesome. Chevys suck!

Never ran into it on a bump...but my 73 had cracks between 2 of the 3 holes. Welded it up & never looked back.

Ya, all three of our bumps have had these hair line cracks. It's because the steering boxes are so dang heavy! I've never seen a problem come of this, but who wants a cracked frame? :fr:
