I think it was LMC that has has them for stock(drum/drum), front disc/rear drum, and for 4 wheel disc.
Also check NPD..

It really isn't a proportioning valve, just a distribution block with a shuttle valve for the warning light.

Unless it is stripped of something there isn't much that can go wrong with it.

That's not a disc brake proportioning valve....that's a drum-brake distribution block.

The disc brake prop valves pictured above are the '73 thru early-'77 style that get mounted on top of the steering box. The late-'77 thru '79 prop valves get mounted to the backside of the front crossmember. Here's a picture of that style taken by one of our members who was mounting it to his bumpside:

This picture that you just posted in another thread is the bumpside-era disc brake prop valve. (And is a great picture, BTW. I saved it for future reference to use here on the forums, if that's OK.)

Good morning,

Convincor, thanks for the tips on vendors for this gadget.

Robert, thanks for the clarification! I had this all wrong. And since there were no symptoms of bad behavior that I can remember, I'll just clean it up and re-install it.

Keith, thanks for the illustrations! I understand what's going on now. And please freely use all photos I post links to here; I'm happy about any contribution I can make to this great site!

Here's the high resolution version of the same photo if you're interested in it. Some patience will be required as it loads from my slow web server:

Thanks very much folks,

If that's a drum brake distributing block what is the disc brake counterpart?

My '71 CS disc/drum truck has a similar part (truck is at home so I can't visually compare right now) and the brake warning light is stuck on (gone through the bleed / distribution process per Ford so all should be good there), I had to remove the wire from it because the light was bugging me (and it had burnt through the lens!).

Anybody know a way to rebuild / repair it so I can have a working brake warning lamp again?

Thanks,
Sequoia
