Seat Belts

Post by 1971fordcustom »

I have ever thing for the inside of my truck but the dash pad and seat belts. Well I cant find any thing like thes http://www.fordification.com/lit/images ... re_p05.jpg

on The chrome classic ones like out of npd are the only ones I can find that are even near what I have. The part im worried about is where it rolls up this is what I have http://www.tractorshed.com/gallery/community/c1333.jpg If I got the new belts can I take the old ones out and put the new ones in where it retracts like the old one did? Sorry I keep going on and on lol Im just trying to think the best way to ask that ?

Ya I want to see them if you don't mind!! Im trying to think this all out how can I fix the new ones where they will work like mine. And on you seat belt having only one :?. If you truck was made after July of 71 its federal regulations that you have them however if your truck was made before july you don't have to have them. So it might of been you truck was made before july and over the years the owners might of just put one in or they took one off maybe it did not work.

Those belts came in any Ford, mercury or lincoln during the late '60's so go junkyarding and get some replacements. It's like a 45 torx bit to get the bolts out. Some JB-80 make them come out easier. Four door '68 fairlanes are good for latch sides, but I don't think the retractor sides have as much belt in them (I'll have to check the ranchero when I get home to compare)

Did you notice on the factory lit that it has speakers in the door? Wonder how they ran the wires?

here are the pictures: keep in mind that this is mostliikely not the safest way to bolt down a seat belt. the blue seat belt is the driver's one and the black are the two passenger seat belts( the middle seat belt and the far passenger seat belt)

this is the bolt right by the drivers door that is bolting down the drivers side of the driver's seat belt
Image

this is the bolt that is bolting down the driver's/ middle seat belt. notice that the black seat belt is squeezed under the blue one. again, not the safest way.
Image
another view. the black seat belt is under the blue, you cant see it in this pic though
Image

this is the bolt that bolts down the middle seat belt and the seat belt on the far passenger side
Image

and hear is the bolt bolting down the far passenger side seat belt.
Image

hope this helps

haha lol when i was taking the pics i was thinking the same thing. the funniest part is that i had to feel for the bolts! i do clean it but i cant keep up with the seat. the back of the seat is torn apart and stuff keeps falling off of it. its like a mesh that goes on the back of the seat. ive never taken the time to clean the seat because i plan on rebuilding the seat springs up.
tomorrow ill tear it off the seat and clean up a little

LOL I guess I got ya thinking about doing that  Ya I think that stuff is burlap mine had it and it did the same thing so I just got a big trash bag and thumb tacks and tacked the trash bag onto the seat. You might have to cut one right on the seam to make it fit. I got my new Upholstery kit from the link down below npd and its really nice. It was 199$ + like 9 something to ship sense it was os. How old are you if you dont mind me asking? Im only 18 and had this truck when I was like 14 or 15 years old and im just now getting to have it painted and stuff. Only thing im not doing is the engine it runs great smokes a lil and thats just the vale guide seals. Has a rear main seal that leaks just a little bit. Only way to fix that is pull the engine and I dont have the money for that and its not hurting any thing so its fine. any ways take care
