What all year portioning valve?

Post by Banjo »

Converting 68 from drum to disc, forgot to get proportioning valve while at salvage (74 donor), I know very boneheaded. Suppose I go back and donor truck crushed and I can't locate similar, what all year proportioning valve are suitable? And, are there any that can be ordered new? I'm concerned I'll finally locate and it'll be rusted inside.
It's amazing, around here, everything getting crushed for weight, so these disc trucks commonly used for swap aren't readily available as they must be in other areas! So, I'm curious could prop valves from like a mid-80s Ford truck be used? those are easier to find (around here)

i wouldn't see why not. the only concern would be the line and fitting sizes for the newer valve. i don't know if they would be the same or not. but you would probably have to change that anyway. if you were to use a 73-79 valve.

the valve is to portion out different presures front and back. i can't remember which gets more or whiich get less. but that is the way it works. the brake line bracket is so to keep the lines from getting messed up or bent. they need that extra space to make them reach properly to the wheels. my local yard has been keeping the crap in the back and everything that comes in goes straight onto the junk pile to be hauled off. they need to get the old junk out and let the new unpicked stuff stay for awhile.
