I-beam flip

Post by RedneckTexan »

I've heard you could flip the I-beams on your 2wd truck upside down and get 3-4 inches of lift out of them without serious modification, Is this true, has anybody done this before :? Please let me know.

(if this works, I'll also block the rear)

its an interesting idea. if it were possible but one thing a person would have to do is change sides also. as well as flip them when this was done. but i don't think it can be done myself. taller and stiffer springs could do what your wanting to do though.

its been done, you need to pull the spindles and change the location of the spindle bearing. the steering is still way off though.

New stock springs will raise the front of the truck up about 3" over the sagging decades old springs. if you want a few inches over the stock height, 80's van springs will lift a few inches (your steering will be off but not as much as an ibeam flip).

I don't think you can. The axle pivots are ofset from the wheel centerline so if you swap sides and flip them then you would also have to swap the axle pivots from front to back & back to front. Then you would have to look at the steering ishues. and what about how dumb it would look??

you know its bad when you can eyeball the camber problem caused by fliping them.

No you cannot flip your I-Beams

Listen to the us, some Brothers have tried.

Yes they actually attempted the task only to realize that it's a physical impossibility.

It's just another Urban Legend my Brother.
