how can i tell if a steering column for my 68 ford is compatible with my power steering or not ??? dont want manual column right , my truck is ps right now thanks mike

grab one from a ps truck. a manual column is either too long or too short.

i have manual steering in my71' 4x4 so does this mean ill have to change clumns when i switch to ps???

I beleive so. I have one i could part with you'll need the wiring for the turns and horn as this one don't have them.

You won't need a PS column to convert a 4WD to PS. Owners of 2WD trucks have to though, due to the location of the steering box. Because the 4WD boxes are located farther forward, you can use you existing column, though depending on what kind of conversion you do and what box you use, you might need to rework/replace the shaft that extends between the box and column.
