PS Question??

Post by jguajardotx »

I understand that the benix box was used maybe only up till 1970 so could i possibly find a 79 ps box for my 1967 f100 say at my local autozone or someplace. If i were to use say the 79 ps box would it be a direrct fit or would modifications have to be made to the steering column? Thanks.

Yes, you can get a Saginaw box at any parts store, for any similar truck up through '79, but because it's longer than the Bendix box, you will need a PS steering column which is several inches shorter.

Everything you need to know is located at the following link:

Buying a new one will cost you a lot of money. I have a Bendix box out of a 1968 Ranger 360 that needs to have new seals put in it. I know it works. I put it in my truck and for some reason it set my steering wheel an inch off the column. If you want it, let me know. Are you adding power steering? If so, I have everything else. I have the box, hoses, brackets, pulleys, and a remanufactured P/S pump for adv. auto. I will give it all to you for $150 + shipping. Thanks!

That can be corrected by simply loosening the firewall clamp for the column and the underdash attachment point for the column, sliding the column housing up against the wheel and then sliding the lower lock collar up against the column housing.

Well, first off, the problem is that the power steering came out of a truck with a 360. I don't know if the brackets are the same for the inline 6. I think, not for sure, that you can get a rebuild kit from advance auto. This set up probably isn't the best deal for you personally. I know though that the core charge for the Bendix box is 150 at Advance auto.

engine size has nothing to do with wheather the steering box will fit or not. they are a one size fits all box. they didn't make diferent size boxes for different engines. so his will fit yours.

Good luck finding the brackets for an Inline 6. The Bendix box mounted fine to my frame. I have bad cab mounts and I think that is why it was so hard for me. Some other guy is going to buy it all right now, hopefully. Don't you guys think that selling it all including the box, pump, brakets, and pulleys all for $150 + shipping is a good price. I see then go for way more than that all the time. I would like to sell it all together. If this other guy won't buy it all for what I want, the I mite just sell you the box. Then put the other stuff on ebay.
