F-350 disc swap

Post by basketcase0302 »

Hey guys,

Ran the search, not much info.

Can anybody tell me what years of one ton front discs/radius arms will interchange easily with my 71 F-350?

Thanks,

:hmm: OK this get real fun on one tonnes.

you can use 69 ta 79 parts 3/4 camper special and f350. with dual piston calipers. :) BUT..........

the calipers change in '72 so don't use the early stile calipers there are a real pain when you try replacing them. :( you need the '73 up stile for they came one more trucks like 1973 ta 1990 and are cheeper for pads/calipers and hardware. (dual piston stile only)

so :D if you want just disk brakes on a one tonne you can just un bolt the backing plate. and get the caliper mount of a 1974 or so f250 camper special (dual piston stile only.)
this way is cheeper all you need now is the rotors/master cylinder off a one tonne with duals. or if you like having two spare wheels you can use the rotor of a f250 camper special or f350 with out duals.
***Note*** the master cylinder its important you get the one for dual front piston calipers.
hope this helps. & good luck
disk brakes are really the only way to go. and the hole conversion remember is still cheeper than replacing those front drums/shoes on your truck. :shh:

Leadfoot,

Thank you for your reply!

So I'm looking for a F-250/F-350 Camper Special for a donor truck to have the dual calipers?

What's the newest year of those that would enable use of my existing radius arms,(direct bolt-on) and existing 16.1 wheels?

:hmm: for your radius arms you can use your stock ones you don't need to change them. but the inter change goes like 1967 ta 79 as long as they are forged. they came in f250 camper special and f350's

now for the dually rotors you can run from like 1969 ta 92 one tonne. the ones one my truck are off a 86 E350 Budget truck. so you can also run the van stuff also. (the rotor and hub bolt to together from the back also). I run the rotors with the center with a 45 degree taper so the dual wheels will fit. (you need the dually hub so your wheels are not in set)

the calipers (dual piston) are the same from like 73 ta the mid 90's.
you don't want the early stile that has the brake pad pins and springs they are junk. and they use a totaly different caliper mount.

the caliper mounts (dual piston) you want came on f250 camper specials and f350's from 1973 ta 79.

on my next day off I try ta take some pics and try ta post them ta clear things up a little.
