On a J nut the top portion (without the treads) is shorter than the lower portion, the U nut is the same length.

IMHO..

Could also call them Jesus nuts.

AMK Products call the top one Nut Clips and the bottom one Spring Nuts.

Wonder if this post will make the 3rd page of nuts. I've always called them speed nuts, or J clips. But I have found that just about everyone, has a different name for everything. Just call up a part's store and ask for something... you explain what it is and they go "Oh, you mean a ......."

WELL all the years working at autowreckers I should know. Around here we call the top one a body nut, and the lower a body clip. :hmm:
