Anybody have trouble with LMC ar mrests?

I have the same da&&&m armrest and god I want to burn them!!!. It was not hard at all to open my door tell now. When I have my best friend in the truck she can't even open the door so im all ways getting out of the truck and letting her out. Thats not so bad sence she is a cute blond . I guess thats a good thing if you want to have some girls in your truck . To open my doors now I have 2 bolts in my armrest. What woud be the best thing to use as a spacer?

I'm thinking some type of wood.Maybe trace the outline of the armrest then cut it out with a jigsaw.Another idea I hit on was heavy teflon.I've seen this used as wear pads in truck suspensions.

oh i see what your talking about. i thought you meant he made the arm rest longer front to back not away from the latch handle.

the originals in my truck were worn and somebody wrap a piece of lead/metal around the extrusion to extend the opening operation of the handle to make up for the 30+ years of ware I have since then replaced them with new ones oem nos works great.

i had that problem abt 2 yrs ago npd lmc dont rember put couple washers between door and inside door handle gives that rod whatever on the door handle more leavage

after about half a second of discussion me and fordman determined that the "extensions" were 1/2" plywood painted black. looks like they were cut with a jigsaw. they work well and give my elbow a little more real estate to lean on with the window up.

I have pretty much given up on LMC products,
I got lucky and had good armrests on mine.
You should always keep a lookout for other vehicles that have similar armrests or even different styles you like, I remeber when i built my 64 falcon i happened to find a set of 84? Audi armrests that looked just like factory falcon ones except the fromt edge went up the door for a grab handle........ and the best part........ they bolted right in the factory armrest holes!!!!!

Derek7871 you are right about the armrest for 67 i dont know about the 72 rests. I bout mine from LMC and fit perfectly.....

1976 to 1992 Ford Vans, 1969 and 1970 Mustang and Cougar with standard interior (I believe) and some others are the same as the '68 - '72 Bump arm rests. We've talked about here before. I got my arm rests (OEM Ford) out of a 1989 (or so) E150 conversion van and they are just about as perfect as arm rests can be.

I will grab the NPD Mustang book and see what NPD gets for their reproduction Mustang arm rests. Mustang restorers wouldn't settle for the blue hard as a rock reproductions I got out of a 1972 F100 that came into the local wrecking yard a while back. They had these long screws that held them on the doors. I took them off of the truck just for grins and have them here. They are blue, but again, they are almost rock-like to the touch.

(edit) I would have to look at the '69 - '70 Mustang arm rests at NPD. They look like there is a divider in the center hollowed out area from the picture. They are $21.95 each and only come in black as I see it.

I got a drivers side arm rest from Carpenter's when I rebuilt my 71. I didn't have any trouble with opening the door but the arm rest cracked with in the first couple of months. Total crap. They wouldn't warranty it either as they said they didn't make it.
Just in case somebody suggests going there instead of NPD.

did they say who did make it? or did it come swith the makers name in the package for a warranty?

No they didn't. Guy was pretty short about the whole deal. I live about 30 minutes away so I went back there in person and showed it to him.
I also showed him the outside push botton that the chrome flacked off of, the hood side polding and outside door handels that the chrome was already fading on. All of these parts bought there with in the year and none of them replaced by them.
I spent close to $3000 there and if I can help it won't go back.
NPD is a bit closer anyway

Fyi, just installed my armrest from lmc. Had to bow them a bit to get them to bolt up and place washers behind for door handle clearance. Not perfect fit but got on sale $49.95 for pair which i think is about $15.00 less than npd. P.S. use the phillips head screws that come with them, they are a little longer and screwdriver fits up in there better than socket or nut driver.
