F-350 radius arm bushings

Post by basketcase0302 »

Hey everybody,

Can anybody help with info on a vendor for a set of radius arm bushings for the 71 F-350? (I've been through the 12 pages of forum search index with no luck yet) :(

Neither PST or Energy Suspension seems to list them for the HD 2WD axle.

Fordification rocks!

NAPA carries Moog.

Just checked online, they have the poly bushings for your F350.

CarQuest had the set I needed........at least on the second try. I think there are a lot more of the stamped steel radius arms out there, and the bushings required when you have the cast arms like on an F350 (or some 250's like mine) are quite differnent than the style needed on the stamped ones. You will have fun with this project, if your coil springs or shocks are a little weak you might consider replacing them at the same time, they have to come out to replace the radius arm bushings anyway.
Nothing is fool-proof to a sufficiently talented fool.

There are two different styles of radius arm bushings for the 2wd trucks. I'm not 100% positive, but I am pretty sure, that the F100/F250 uses one type, and the F350 uses the other.

The lighter duty trucks use radius arm bushings that fit into each other, one is a "male" and one is a "female", so to speak.

The F350 uses a different type, and both of them are "male". The reason for this is the frame mount for the radius arm is thicker than on the lighter duty trucks.

Anyways, here's a set of them on eBay, for your F350, if you can't find them locally. If nothing else, it gives you a part # HB1047K to use in your search at the parts stores.

390nut,

That's what was confusing for me was that most vendors list them for the F-100's through the F-250, (different part number for the F-350's)?

Thanks,

Yep. Here's a F350 bushing kit:

F350 bushings

And here's the F100/F250 bushing kit:

F100/F250 bushings

FWIW, Napa carries a blue uerathane bushing set through their NCP (NAPA Chassis Parts, made by MOOG) for $12.99

The problem is, Napa crosses part # HB1047K to part # HB1045K; the 45K # is for the lighter duty trucks, while the 47K # is for the F350, hence the problem. I argued with them for over an hour a couple years ago about this very same problem, and they swore up and down that I was full of sh*t. Ended up buying the TRW parts that utilize the exact same part #'s at Schucks, and took them to NAPA. They still claimed I was full of it.

One of the only bad experiences I've ever had there, though.
