69 F100 IL6 240, Mechanical Fuel Pump Inlet/Outlet?
I have an Airtex 60092 mechanical fuel pump for a 1969 Ford F100...no installation instructions. Have done a total rebuild and this pump is differnet from the original. When the pump is installed, there are two identically threaded holes on the driver's side of the pump. The front hole (closest to the radiator) is about 3/4" lower than the aft hole. Two threaded fitings are provided and I am estimatiung one is 3/8" and the other 1/4". I have read about a similar pump for a mustang where the front is the outlet and the aft is the inlet. Can anyone tell me which hole is the inlet and which is the outlet?

The larger hole will typically be the suction side, (line from the tank).
I'd verified this before by hooking a short length of fuel line into the pump and use a small container of gas.
Moving the arm by hand should bring enough gas up to verify-if not try switching the line to the other port.

The holes are actually the same size. The pump is installed and no gas in the tank yet...any chance I could turn the engine over and see which one sucks?

The port to the front of the truck is the inlet (tank), the port to the rear is the outlet (carb).

The diagram for the V8 shows both inlet and outlet. The fuel pump is actually oriented filter down and the inlet is in the front as you describe.
For the 6-cylinder, though, the pump is oriented filter side up and doesn't appear to show two ports, just the outlet. Am I missing something?

That should work. Probably generates enough vacuum to feel which port sucks and which port blows by holding your fingers over the ports. Worse case, hook up a vacuum gauge and check what port is pulling.wartmeister wrote:The holes are actually the same size. mine looks like yours got it at orielleys
the top hole is the suction side. this pump puts out too much pressure at higher rpm so I had to put a pressure regulator inline after blowing out2 carbs
gas running everywhere. I have some real ford repair manuals and it says the autolite carb needs 4-6 lbs you may have a carter and those are the ones that started leaking. so far so good with the regulator set a 3 lbs
