Distributor ID Question

Post by TexasTruck72 »

Hey guys, I know this may sound like a dumb question, but do any of you know how to identify what (stock) distributor you have in your bump? My 1972 F-100 has its original 360 V8 and distributor. I am trying to replace my broken vacuum advance and need to determine which distributor I have. Any advice of where to look, etc. Thanks.

FYI:
The parts catalog(NPD) I am looking at shows two options for a 70-72 F-100-350 truck with 360 or 390 engine. It's either distributor ID #D2TF-AA, KA or distributor ID #C8TF-H, L, DOTF-K, D1TF-EA.

These are the numbers you're looking for on the side of the distributor. The cast-in number (12127) is the basic part number, it's the same for all Ford distributors. It's the prefix and suffix stamped into the housing on each side of that number that you're looking for.
