Re: 67 wanting disk and power
Transforming an old, analog vehicle into something brimming with modern conveniences and safety features is expensive and time consuming. Also, it isn't unusual for these solutions to breed new problems. And you'll be getting only pennies on the dollar back if you sell. Why don't you buy a newer truck with those features installed from the factory? And likely be money ahead.
But do you like to solve problems, like to find excuses to work on junk, and enjoy constant punishment? Get a Rubik's cube, a Hyundai, and a Borderline Personality Disorder girlfriend instead.

OP, read the article on brake upgrades. No, it doesn't have to be expensive as "Ren" is alleging.

The frustrations of trouble shooting can make you want to give up. BUT, when you get your problems solved, everything's buttoned up and you're driving down the road in something you built with your own two hands the sense of satisfaction is what it's all about. Standing at the gas pump filling the tank when someone walks up and say, "Nice!". These are the rewards for all the frustration.

Re: 67 wanting disk and power
I converted my '69 F100 Ranger to '77 F100 front discs/suspension and added a power brake booster from a '75 F350.
The only thing I got out of it was tremendously better brakes.

Understood the question. Offered a valid solution (if only to myself) without considering the motives or circumstances of other personalities that own old cars.raeasler wrote:Ren wrote:Transforming an old, analog vehicle into something brimming with modern conveniences and safety features is expensive and time consuming. Compared to modern cars, these trucks are deathtraps in almost every realistic, conceivable accident scenario. It makes sense to want the vehicle to stop better and faster. If safety is such a concern, it makes more sense to buy something made closer to this century. And don't even start yammering nonsense like "good ol' American steel", or other such drivel.

I thank everyone for their comments on my project, whether negative or positive. I just wanted a little helpful information, not condemnation for what I'm interested in. Good luck on your projects!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting something that doesn't blend in with the herd. Going against the grain is way more fun - and you can always find your vehicle in a parking lot full of mediocrity

Let us know how you're getting along with your project.
