brake adjust
Im an idiot and cant remember which way to turn the brake adjusters on my drum brakes. Spin the wheel upward to adjust tighter or the other way (down towards ground)? I said I was an idiot!

Re: brake adjust
No such thing as a dumb question. Something like which way to spin the star wheel if not done on a daily basis is almost impossible to remember. I believe its turn the star wheel upwards to ratchet it past its locking arm. However i'm a big fan of raising which ever end of the car your doing this on and adjusting and spinning the wheel by hand to get a good feel for adjustment.

Re: brake adjust
Check your e-brake while wheel is off ground too.

Re: brake adjust
You should be able to only turn it one way due to the teeth on the star wheel contacting the adjustment lever.

Re: brake adjust
There is a real good video on You Tube about brake adjustment. You're gonna scrape a couple knuckles and trial and error will soon show some drag on the drums then you will know which direction to turn the adjustment spool. When you are satisfied with the drag on the drums and the parking brake adjustment make sure you replace the rubber plug on the bottom of the drum, use WD 40 or better yet some soapy water to make sure it slips in and doesn't break off any rubber. (Sounds like my first blind date!
) Thank You for your post, let us all know how it works out.
