Dana or 9inch
Is the dana 1/2 ton rear end any better than the 9 inch. I did see that the dana has 30 spline axles. My 9 inch only has the 28 spline.

60. I found one for sale and just checking to see if I should get it. I am just finishing up building a 9 and wonder if I should think about building a dana 60 for a backup.

Doesn't the Dana 60 have 8 lug nuts? Ford 9-inch will have 5.
I have 31-spline axles in the 9-inch rear end under my '69 F100 but, I added the 31-spline axles from a '71 F100 that had a Ford 9-3/8" rear end and, I installed a Ford Daytona N-case 9-inch 3rd member with a 4-pinion, 31-spline Traction-Lok differential that I pulled from a '75 F150 4x4.
