Scarebird disc brake conversion

Post by element7878 »

Has anyone done the scarebird conversion on their 67-72? If so did you change your booster/master cylinder combo? If so, which booster/master cylinder did you use? Pro portioning valve? I got a list from them to use for the rotors, calipers, and hoses but it doesn't mention anything about the booster/mc / pro portioning valve setup..thanks..any input is appreciated

If I remember correctly he recommends using what you have. I'm using the factory booster, master cylinder and valves from my '71 f250 parts truck which had discs.

I'm assuming yours had disc brakes added correct? So your stuff is probably off a 73-79 truck?

No, in '71 you could get a F250 with disc brakes from the factory. I just used the booster and proportioning valve from it when I did the Scarebird conversion.

In '69 the Camper Special F250 came with disc brake option (at least in Canada)

Ford started offering optional disc brakes on the F250s and F350s in 1968.
