Heater

Post by Mancar1 »

Me thinks me has a Gremlin in my truck  The other day on a 20 mile run, the 68's heater core dripped onto the floor mat. Figured it was time to pull unit and check it out. Well I have logged around 80 miles since then and I can not get a repeat performance. It happened when I put the pedal to the medal on launch. So that may have contributed to the happening.
Oh well I will deal with it as it comes.
I have dealt with this in the past and usually once the leak starts it continues until one fixes it.
This one time leak occurred for anyone else?

Mine was doing the same thing . Very annoying after i removed mine i found coolant was running down nipples into engine bay . It would only drip inside every once and awhile

Usually, there's no mistaking the look, feel and smell of coolant. There's also no mistaking the film it can leave on your windows after a bit of evaporation and condensation.

My only thought is, maybe it wasn't coolant? Rain or wash water instead?

Otherwise, I can't think of anything else (other than what bumpandsweptline mentioned) - You might want to start shopping for a new heater core. How else could coolant get from radiator to mat?

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)

I hear ya, and yes for sure it was coolant. I already have what I need, except the time. I have it on my to do list.

its possible its been dripping steadily and pooling then the lurch of your truck on a hard take off spit the coolant out of its hiding spot onto your floor......?
