Looking for wheel/tire opinions

Post by cochino12 »

just got done lowering the '67 a little and now its time for some new wheels and tires. I don't want anything fancy and honestly I would keep the wheels that I have but I have the offset, they are tucked about 4" from the fender. So, which do you guys think would look best? I'm thinking a 15*7 in front and 15*8 in the rear with either 245 60 front 275 60 rear. I may go with a 235 70 (current size) front and 265 70 rear, I don't want the front to rub so I think narrow may be better.

I also attached a picture of the truck. Looks like a lot of rake in the picture but there isn't that much on flat ground. I may try and get the rear 1" lower. I'm leaning toward the first wheel.

I recommend going with 275/60-15s on 15x8s in the rear and stock size, like 225/70-15s, in front on stock wheels. The wider rear rubber will visually correct the narrower track width.

Wheel Vintiques Series 62 wheels are basically widened stock wheels so there is no problem using the same hubcaps front and rear. Get a pair at Summit Racing for about $85 each (primered).

The wheel you're favoring use "innie' hub caps. 67 and later F-series use "outies" where the hubcap mounts on the outside of the raised center section.

Thanks for the reply. I prefer the "innie" style caps, are you saying that they wont work the truck? or just that its not the correct sytle cap?

I wish someone made a decent looking wheel in the right bolt pattern.

No....They'll work on the truck. just gotta buy four wheels instead of two as I indicated above. Oh, your rig doesn't have stock steel fronts, right? No biggee.
With the exception of 61-65s, our rigs use "outie" caps so using innie wheels forever limits going back to OEM-style hubcaps. I don't think it matters with full wheel covers.

Here's an entire page on hubcap/wheel cover identification with innie/outie pictures: http://www.fordification.com/tech/hubcapID.htm

Those look like chevy wheels to me. I like the way they look, they are just too similar to chevy rally wheels to suit my taste. :)

I agree but the wheel selection is horrible for these trucks and I'm not sold on the stock style.
