booster/master combo

Post by BlueOvalDave »

I had to ditch the hydroboost when I did the Mark Viii swap as it was just too much re-engineering.

And seeing as how I cant find the 67 only booster brackets

i'm thinking about using this instead, any one have any experience with this?

I also found this place in North Carolina that sell the booster brackets for a 67 which would then allow me to use the standard booster

I'm curious abou the Cardone unit also. It could be had at a local auto parts place also. I believe Oreilly sells Cardone. I'm in need of a MC right now too. A booster would be a nice upgrade to the manual drums.

Something that may help: The Cardone assembly doesn't look like it comes with brackets for the booster to firewall. You will still need to source them. I do not know yet if the brackets would be 1967 year specific. You will need to source a grommet for the booster to firewall hole. The one supplied with the booster assembly is too short and does not cover the hole in the firewall. No factory grommet is produced.

This is all from reading threads here and searching the Cardone part number on the net.

What is specific to the '67 booster? I just bought a '67 parts truck with PB. But I was thinking of using the booster on my '69.

Why do you believe that? The person on this board who has bought the unit had to source brackets.

Only the pedal rod length, as far as I know.

Cardone is the manufacturer, if you don't get anywhere with Summit. All the other pictures of the unit don't show the brackets.

All I did was use the booster/master combo from a 72 along with the pedal and rod. Bolts right up, the only difference is that the 72 booster is a little larger then a stock 67 booster.

does that set up mount flush to the firewall or use brackets?

That would be an option if I could source a 72 pedal

JUST the pedal? Or the pedal ASSEMBLY? With mounting bracket, etc... The brackets aren't the same either as far as I know.

I've already made three or four different pedals for this truck during it's several transformations, so if I had just the pedal I could make it work. The welder is your friend.

Well, Summit doesnt have it in stock, so of course they had me on hold for 15 minutes while they called Cardone, who also didnt have it in stock, they stated it was a R and R, you know send them your old one and they'll rebuild it.

If I had a good pic of the 67 booster brackets I could fabricate some up.

Back to the drawing board.
