Need Id on Dana 60-2 Rear End

Post by PhilipReitcheck »

I have a 1967 F-100 pickup that I am parting out. I received it with the rear-end removed. It have a Dana 60-2 rear end laying in the bed of the pickup, but I do not know if it is the one that came with this pickup or from a different pickup. I tried to look up the Dana number on the Dana web site, but they only go back to 1979. Here is the information that I can find.

1967 F-100 Pickup- F10YK876877
C-6 automatic transmission- PDD U 010058
352 motor
with A/C

Dana rearend- stamped on tube-225 4A? 23608X
Stamped on housing under cover- 043A D
Stamped on bottom housing flange- C32501 80
Stamped on top of housing- 60-2
Stamped on large gear- Dana 12 14 63 30360 A3D58 41-10
Stamped on small gear- Dana N U 30359 A3R24 41-10 with 10 splines

I known that it's ratio is 4:10, is a Trac-Lok rear end, and it has 5 wheel stud axles.

I am planning on selling the parts, gear set, Trac-Lok pumpin, axles, ect. on eBay, but I do not know for sure what year, F-100, F-250, ect. it fits.

It has five lugs studs, it fits a 1/2 ton. It is a semi flaoting five lug D60. The jeepers like them. Sell it as a whole unit.

If it is a 10 spline it more then likely came out of the 67.

Here is some additional information on the rearend;
axle 29-3/4" long - 30 spines
Axle 5 lugs- 5-1/2"
Brake Drum- 11-1/4" dia
Brake Shoes- 1-3/4" wide

The pickup came without the drivers door so I have no data plate to see which rear-end came with this pickup. 4.10:1 seem like a high gear for a pickup with a automatic tranmission. Could this differential also be out of a 63-64 Lincoln Continental with a Direct Power differential? The top of the differential is stamped with a 60-2. If it was a 1967 F-100 Limited slip differential would it not be stamped with a 60-3?

You got me on the Continental. I don't know anything about them besides they are big.

Being that you tell me its a thirty spline tells me it is 73 or newer. The code on the tube should be the one that tells ya what year. You can call Randy's Ring and Pinion. They can probably decipher that number for ya. http://www.ring-pinion.com/

Dana has a BOM (bill of materials) number look up on their web site. I think it will only show axles back 1978. I wish it worked for the early stuff. Sorry no link

Found out that it is out of a 1974 F-250 pickup with 4-speed manual transmission. Lincoln cars have a 4-1/2" dia. wheel bolt pattern. The date code that I found "225?4A?" is 2=Feb., 25=day, ?4 is 74=year, and A? is AT= the code for Trac-Lok.
Thanks for all the help. :D
