The 67 project is in high gear
Finally got jealous enough of looking everyone else's trucks.
Started the project for real this time. The bed is off and I have a new one. Thank you Keith.
Shaved the in cab fuel hole. Filled in seams on the cab. The old bed is for sale or trade. Its ok. Needs some work on the seams and a couple of holes in the floor. Not rust holes though. It looks as if someone knocked a battery over and it ate through in a few spots in the center of the floor. Has the toolbox option. Some pics in gallery and I have over 40 more if interested.

I'm really jealous since my projects are on hold indefinitely. But i am glad that you have gotten yours going. It keeps the interest alive when others continue there projects! Good luck!

re: The 67 project is in high gear
Damn, Rob...that is looking GREAT!! Heck, it almost looks exactly like mine, too!
OK, a couple questions. I don't recall if you've already covered this, but...
1) What did you do with the frame? Is that POR-15 or powdercoat? (Looks like powdercoat)
2) It appears from that picture that you're using the stock drum brakes on front? Is that correct? Why not upgrade to discs?
Way to go! It's really looking good.

re: The 67 project is in high gear
That really looks great-----was the frame painted 10 years ago? I agree its a GREAT feeling to make and see progress. Its also a great feeling when you click the lever on the ratchet over and start installing the pieces.10 years later I find POR-15 and I touch up the places that I was careless on and put small chips in the paint.
Looks like your almost there--thanks for the pictures I'm going to check out your gallery next.

re: The 67 project is in high gear
Yes it was at least 10 years ago. I was working at Penske Truck Leasing on 2nd place in downtown Phoenix turning wrenches. The guy that did all our body work on our rental trucks turned out to be a really cool dude. He had a small independent shop. I asked him if he did any side work and of course cash talks. I took it apart mostly and he did the rest. Got it back about 3 weeks later and its been like this till now. All I did really was give it a good wash and degrease and did minor touch up.

re: The 67 project is in high gear
Several trips in fact. I left Korea in 1991 and bought the truck in California to move to Fort Bliss, TX. Best money I ever spent. I left the Army the first time in 1992 during the drawdown and moved to Ft. Smith Arkansas and went to work for Penske. Penske liked me enough to promote me quick and asked me to move to Little Rock, AR for training in managment and then to Shreveport,LA in 1993. In 1994 I was transferred to Phoenix and that where the teardown started. Next was Greensboro NC so I had to put the truck back in shape to haul a 40 foot 5th wheel cross country. This is how the 390 got broke in. I decided to rejoin the Army in 1998 and then went to Fort Polk and then to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD and then to Korea again and then to Fort Campbell, KY. I would esimate that the truck has less than 5000 miles on it since 1994.

Man, I sure wish I'd have kept mine. Instead, I gave it away thinking there was nowhere to put it. I was at Ft. Polk enroute to Germany...where I currently am.
Yours is looking great. I applaud you for keeping it through all that and working on it too. I do love these trucks.
I bought my first 69 f100 swb with a 390 when I was at Ft. Campbell back in 1990. It was beautiful...pearl white, interior was completely restored...when we got back from desert storm I traded it in at Little River Ford in Hop-town for a 1991 Ranger...should have kept that one too.

Put the running gear back in today. The C-6 swap went better than I thought. All stainless hardware and of course FORD BLUE paint.
