Re: T-18
The I6 has a zero ballance,351c has 28oz. If you already have a manual you don't have to worry about changing flywheels. Are you going from auto to manual?
Here is some info an t18 and t19 tranny.

Re: T-18
13-01 shows its a T-18,of course we know that already. Im doing a auto to manual swap right now,so any info i can find is a help, the thing is, im going into a 92-96 F-150 with EFI L-6, with a EOD4 auto, over to a NP435 and I dont know of any one else thats done this swap,I dont mind,Im going through with it,I put a NP into my swb gmc,but it had a 3.on the colum,so the swap was not quite as involved, and i had some clutch linkage line up issues,That was a long time ago,Ive been with Fords now 4 a long time.I just dont want any trouble with the clutch,so im trying to find out what i can. What are you installing your T-18 into??

Re: T-18
I am installing the t18 in to my 71 f250. Skifu to do your swap, you will need a different pcm for the same year, same engine code with a manual or aod(not aode). a pedal assembly from a 80-96 f*50 and 97 f250+ should work (just stick with hydraulic or non)

Mouse,
My uncle owns a high profile garage in Florida,High volume of business, and speed parts,he tells me that I can just set the PCM in the neutral posisition, and it will be ok,well have to see how it goes.but thanks just the same.hes selling me everything for the the complete swap for just 250$,I think thats a good deal!I just gotta ship it all back here to Panama, where I live,I shipped the truck here,so a box of parts wont be a problem.

Re: T-18
I did find and so yes you should be able to trick your pcm and have it work
If you plan to use your old wiring then there are a few things you need to do.
* Remove the MLPS from the side of the transmission (Your old E40D)
* Place it in neutral position by lining up the alignment marks on it
* Plug it back into the plug and tie it out of the way on the frame rail of the truck
* Reattach any wiring to the transmission transfer case area
You should be able to start your truck in any gear with no worries. The CEL will not come on either as the computer thinks the automatic is still in and in neutral. I have yet to have any CEL on the transmission.
However... You will have no Neutral Safety nor back up lights with this Method
If you got the wiring from a donor truck and the computer then just install it all as well as the computer.

Re: T-18
Mouse,or SteveC,
Saying I did go that route, then what can I do for back up lights? If theres no way to trace out the wires, and hook them up to the 4 spd.trans back up light indicator, then it looks like Im just going to have to swap in the manual trans computer while Im at it,I want this swap to be as clean as factory,so Im not going to leave anything un-done to simplify or short-cut the work, what do you guys think? I cant help it,but Im a gear head, and just love these kinds of challenges. Please share with me some ideas, and thanks for the help, and the replies, they make my day!!!

Re: T-18
I don't understand why there was a mention of "no backup lights". :/
Maybe the quote was taken out of context? :)
The case of the T18, it has a reverse switch built right into the lid. :)

(it's the little red dot in the dark colored smudge, in the upper left hand corner of your screen;)
Anybody know off hand if a ZF's got something similar?
(fixing to start looking for that;)

ps- Wanting to put a '90 F250's ZF in a '91 automatic Bronco. ...got the parts truck already. :)

Re: T-18
Alvin, read the post by Mouse, thats where I seen mention of the back up lights,C"mon, theres gotta be a way to get them working, this is an old pick-up,Ive seen way more customized swaps on other vehicles.I think what he was refering to is the possibility that the back up lights might go through the computer,if this is the case,Im changing over to the manual trans comp. as well.Im going to FL. on the 12th,to get all these parts,Im gonna strip as much as I can from the donor truck, and buy new things like, the clutch master and slave cylinders, clutch assembly, and what ever else is suspect, during the change over,Ive also got the notion that, once the grannys in place, and all the kinks are worked out, later on I may put in a ZF5 speed,or a tremec T-56,it just depends on how bad the cruise capabilities are with the the 4 spd, remember, this is just mostly gonna be a farm, and pulling truck.Im going in with a detroit air locker in the rear, so that will require installing the kit supplied compressor. Its 320 miles from my house to the farm,I had to stay close to Panama city because of my children are still in school, and the best schools are near Panama,I had a gmc swb 70 model with a muncie 4 spd,and the right gearing in the rear end,and it was fast,so much so that I couldnt hold it straight on a dirt road at full throttle,it was posi trac in the rear, and i had about 2500 in the motor back in the 80s,it was a 327 large journal.Id say around 300 HP at the tires,I had 10 inch rims in the back, and that thing would throw a rooster tail like mad.it pulled really good for a 2 wd.
Talk later,Im going to go look at some radiators,I want something bigger, and without plastic end caps. "Skifu"

Re: T-18
Thanks A Bunch Mouse and Fordman,Faster than a speeding 351,more powerful than a 460 its a T- bird,its a stang,, its,Forrdman!!!...
That diagram is gonna save me from some serious headaches, man Im glad you posted this.Im not 100% sure what tranny my uncle has for me,but its in a 90 f-250,in very good condition, its got a blown engine,Im thinking about throwing a engine together, and shipping the whole works down here, well see.Im kinda hope-ing its a T-18,but a good NP-435 will do just as well,I like the bend of the shifter in the newer granny 4 speed Ford trucks better,as opposed to the old style, however,Ill take either one at this point,Ive owned both, and still want to kick my ass like Jim Carrey did himself in Liar-Liar for getting rid of them.I remember on wet grass, with plain 15inch street tires,I could spin through 2nd 3rd& 4th,and it would bury the speedo with a 351 windsor, headers, cam and 4 barrel holley, nothing more.it sure sounded good, dual straight pipes as well, especially when down shifting,it would pop like firecrackers,I miss it!!!that was my old 69 swb,I put the granny in after I tore the column shifter up in a mud hole.it had wear on it anyway.Gentlemen, keep the posts coming I look forward to it!!!Skeefoo,in Panama!!!

Re: T-18
If it's original to the pickup it should be a wide-ratio (granny geared) ZF.Skifu wrote: ...not 100% sure what tranny my uncle has for me,but its in a 90 f-250...
Studied up on it and just got done buying one for a parts truck last week.
Mine's a '90 F250 5.8 with 5 speed manual too.
The seller thought it was a Mazda transmission like the F150's and Bronco have but...
EHHHHHH (is that how to spell a wrong-answer-buzzer sound?;) the F250's and F350
have the ZF. Certain ones with the 7.3 diesel have a close-ratio (no granny) ZF tho.
