Breather bolt in rear axle housing?

Post by NUTNDUN »

Hi gang, I need help trying to figure out what the bolt is or what it is called so I can get a new one. I took mine out when I had the rear sandblasted two years ago and i have no idea what I did with it. Is it a breather bolt? A regular bolt? I need the one that holds the y block to the housing for the brake lines. I am guessing it has to be some sort of breather.

If you have one let me know how much you want for it and the shipping. It is the last piece of the puzzle LOL. Other then getting my alternator mounted then I can get it inspected.

It has 7/16-20 threads. LOL :)
Now you know everything I know about them! LOL :)
I'm figuring on making a trailer and so replaced the brass part with a jam nut.

{edit: Hmmm... I should just tap it for a tappered hose bib and save my part
for someone else if they can't be bought new anywhere? Mine looks like new,
compared to Keith's pictures!}
{edit number 2: Hmmm... tapping the axle housing would burn a bridge, better
to just cram a brass hose bib into the existing threads? :)}

I appreciate all the offers, I got lucky and ended up finding mine after cleaning the garage. I had tore the truck apart down to the fame two almost three years ago and well you know how it is. I am surprised I got the truck back together. All I have left is the hood to put on and the body is done. I am waiting on the alternator bracket to get here so I can get something to work with my electric water pump. Soon it will be inspected and back on the road as a weekend cruiser.

I figured I would share a picture of the truck now that it has had it's first bath in 3 years. I still have a little adjusting to do, the bed is off a little and I think the left front spring is a little on the weak side.

I would have to look, I'm not sure. They were on it when I bought it back 4 years ago.
