I just bought a 71 f250 sport custom camper special for $400, it has power steering. It is having an issue when turning, the wheel will garb and freeze. What all should look as well that has know problems on this year? In all it runs good but it dose have minor quirks. my cab mounts are rust infested and are almost not there. that almost the only rust on it or damage, is this good ideal 'v'
or dose some one else have a ideal

just a possible list of things to check.
1 rusted out cab mounts replace mounts or do a temp fix with a 2x4 under floor to test if thats the problem.
2 gear box needs rebuilt or is out of travel
3 air in the power steering ssytem jack up truck and turn wheels while its running all the way both ways to purge air from system. (use jack stans while jacking up truck)
4 bad rag joint replace with good oem products. (help items will tear while installing them)
5 king pins worn replace king pins with the brass bushing (machine shop work)
6 bad tie rods / draglink replace as needed.
with the exception of number 3 these are the most common problems it could be. do you hear any noises when this happens and how hard is it to trun the wheel back over when this happens? do you have to stop and jerk it or do you just pull real hard?
it will go smooth and easy to the end of travel but when I go to turn it back, it wonts to keep going and I have to fight it back to center. If I nurse the wheel its not that bad. It don't make any noise besides the normal hissing

they need fixed. for sure. that could be part of the problem or it can lead to wear and other problems. i would check the king pins for sure. that is the easiest thing to check. jack the truck up and se if the tire moves in and out at the top or bottom of the tire. if it does the king pins are worn and need replaced.
that good. a quick l braket works for new mounts also. or that t looking thing you first posted. or even getting factory mounts work great also. you can also get them from a parts truck that has good mounts. i kept ones from a 78 i cut up. all i have to do is grind the old spotwelds to the floor off and then put them onthe correct sides of my builder.
i don't have one here to measure. my good trucks are all 10 miles away right now. i dont know if anyone else would have a measurement of the front cab mount front face height.
