Yes I'm working on my slick but it has a 302/t-18 going into it.
This is the z-bar bracket that was on it...
But noticed this will thread directly into the block. Did ford do it like this on some applications????
Is this right??

re: Is this right??
I think some of the smallblocks(newer maybe) didn't have the provisions to attach to the block. Seems like a lot of Mustang guys use a cable clutch instead.

That is the spot that was / is on my 68 289/302 block in my mustang... I think it was the early blocks that didn't have it, like the early 289 and 260 pre 65 I think.
But that is the place on the block for it.

re: Is this right??
All of the earlier small blocks I have worked on had the threaded bosses. 2 later 5.0 blocks had the boss for it but it wasn't drilled and tapped. 1 5.0 block didn't have the boss at all.
The 71 Mustang I had with a Cleveland used a bracket similar to that even though the Cleveland had a drilled and tapped boss.

I have that bracket on my 67 fe set up. Looks like the second picture lines up nicely.

re: Is this right??
Thanks for the input!!!!
Both styles actually place the z-bar very close, other than the "stud" style positions the bushing closer to the frame. It will save me from stretching my z-bar.
Anyone have a good description or even a part number for the "fuzzy" bushing that is on the bracket above???
Thanks!!!

Go to a classic Mustang shop.. Or online parts supplier.
I believe they are called 'Clutch Pivot Felts'.
