Rear shock mounts for F-350DRW trucks

Post by two-bit »

I know various members have big trucks without rear shocks.
My F-350 is without them also and it rides like a chased rabbit when its empty down a bumpy road.
So i took some pics of the bolt-on mounts that go under the U-bolt mounting plate. These are on a D70 from a '68F-350 so they should be correct for all of our trucks.
I'm not sure how hard it would be to locate these. But if some one would like to try to fab up a pair on there own. Here's what they look like with some dimensions.

If you would like any other pics of this part, i will be removing them from this diff. in the up coming week and can post more photos if anyone wants them.

Good luck with your bouncy Bumpside.

That's just what I was looking for. Some measurements would be helpful. I know Kid has those on his F350. I did see on an "80 F350 DRW, a set of lower mounts that U-bolted to the frame. They were on the truck I got my wheels from. I was hoping to get them too, but it didn't work out that way.

I'm running those on my '70 F-250 4x4 as well. They're a real HD piece and since D70's single or dual wheel didn't have shock mounts on them they make putting a 70 under under a 250 4x4 real slick.

I've got a set of lower shock mounts from a Sterling 10.25 that will clamp on to my Dana 70. I have a picture somewhere.....
Here's one before I cut it off. I need new Ubolts for them.

Steve,

Those are neat!

I've taken grade-8 "all-thread/threaded-rod" and made u-bolts for stuff like that before. Most parts stores/some hardware stores carry the grade-8.

That's definitely on my wish list too!
