Juice clutch conversion

Post by willowbilly3 »

It looks pretty simple but who has done it and can you post pics of the master cyl mount and mechanism?

When I took apart the '86 F350, I kept the hydraulic clutch stuff intact. This being an older set up, the slave cylinder is still outside the bell housing. It looks like it could be adapted to a mechanical setup. I'll take some pictures when I'm home in daylight.

I'm more interested in seeing the master cylinder mounting in an actual bumpside application and seeing how the linkage was modified.

It looked to me like the push rod from the master cylinder could easily attach to the clutch pedal. i guess you need a hole in the firewall too.

Yep, you just have to build a new pivot arm and drill a few holes in the firewall. The rod is even the right length if you use the 87-92 or so master. Others might work too, but I use that style.

Dustin, did you reinforce the firewall? I remember istalling some Ford fixit kits on broke out fire walls.
Also wondering if you ran a different line, the one I have on a 90 set up is a weirdly preformed hard plastic line. If so what kind of ends/connections did you use?
And I am also assuming you just rotated the arm on the clutch shaft 90 degrees, is that correct? That looked like it would work.

No firewall problems so far without any reinforcing. The master mounts pretty close to a rib that's already there. I used the stock 90's line, it works, but does need some clamps to hold it in place because it doesn't just lay where you want it.

I did nothing on the tranny end. The zf and mazda tranny use an internal slave.
