Is there an after market sway bar for headders?

Post by mrtleavitt »

I was wondering if anybody makes an after market sway bar that can be used with headders on a 1969 F100 with a 390?

Someone should have them...

I have a front stablizer bar that came off of a '71 f-250.
It bolts on the front side of each i-beam then goes to the front where the front mounts were welded to the frame.
We had to cut the frame to get it off without messing up the rubber bushings.
I am going to clean it up and grind the frame pieces off the mounts so I can install it on my '68 CS... the '71 also had the rear stabilizer as well.

I don't know if that was an original stock set up or an aftermarket one,
but it seemed to work pretty good on the '71.
The way it is set up, it should not interfere with headers at all...

You can see it here in the photo

All aftermarket sway bars will work with headers. The only swaybar that won't work with headers is the early factory style that was (rarely) used and mounted behind the front crossmember and was attached to each radius arm. The factory swaybar setups from all dentside-era trucks and all aftermarket kits mount the swaybar up front, where it's supposed to be.
