New gas tank question.
SO I put my tank in yesterday and while doing that I could hear some rust or somthing in the tank. Is there anything I can put in the tank to stop if from cloging my filter? I heard of seafoam whatever that is. Any help? Thanks

oh ok i read on the forums to put nnuts and bolts in the tank and shake it around. they said it would knock loose any old rusty stuff so it could get out of the tank when flushed out with a hose. there por15 makes a tank sealer cleaner kit that you can put in it to help clean and seal up and rust holes or things like that. and there are also others but i cant remember who else has one for sure. you might be able to get some at the parts stores too.

re: New gas tank question.
Had a buddy who put pea gravel in his and taped over sending unit hole and shook the hell out of it. To get residual out, wrap old rag around air compressor blow gun and seal top of tank with it (sending unit still in) and blow out bottom, it'll pressurize and get all the old out. I think after my buddy pea gravelled his, he used something called red coat or ?? to seal. I usually just buy a new gas tank and sending unit, as I've never had much luck with old gas tanks.

You can also put a small piece of chain in there to break some of the nastyness loose.

If you'd rather not fool around with plugged fuel lines and the like, pull the tank back out and send it to mattsons and be done with it. Time is $$ Bart
