Door pannels

Post by RTG_RACING »

Hey I got some great looking trim to go around the door pannels from one of the members here. Thanks. Anyway I don't know how to put it on. He sent the clips with it but I don't think it works with the metal door pannels. Please tell me I am wrong or am I going to have to get the super jumbo delux door pannels?

Are you talking about the factory chrome perimeter trim that looks like this?

This is the kind of trim meant for the steel panels. I've installed this trim on door panels before that didn't originally have it, but I've got another panel that I've used as a template for drilling the holes. If you don't have one, here's what I'd do:

Remove the door panel you're going to install these on and lay it down flat on the workbench. Assemble the trim pieces and then lay it down on the door panel, making sure you've got it properly centered side-to-side and top-to-bottom, and tape it down so it won't move. Now take a pencil and trace an outline of the trim onto the door panel, both inside and outside. Then remove the tape and the trim. Now that you have an outline of the trim on the panel, you can go around and drill holes in the middle of the two lines....and then just snap the trim on.
