tranny problems
I put a shift kit in my tranny (c6) it never would shift on its own so I had to shift it manually, the other day I pulled into low and it does not go forward or backwards it feels like it's tryin to pull in both directions. any ideas?

Could be sticking valves in the valve body.
Sounds to me like it might be time for a rebuild, though.

Check your transmission modulator. Simple to check and cost less than 10 bucks to replace.

What kind of 'shift kit'?
Did you match up the gaskets with the steel spacer plate. I would look
at the valve body, and gaskets. Make sure all the valves are moving
and not stuck/binding. You should be able to get reverse unless somthing
is totally destroyed.

re: tranny problems
Was the tranny working BEFORE the shift kit? What kind of shift kit? Some kits require enlarging holes in the spacer plate, and if you get them too large they can cause problems. Or if you didn't get a steel check ball replaced in the correct spot, that'll cause problems.

re: tranny problems
So exactly what modifications did you do? I'm guessing you did have to replace the spacer plate at least. Do you still have it so that you could reinstall the stock piece?
It's been a few years since I installed a shift kit and I can't really recall what I had to do to install it, but I'm thinking that the installation somehow got messed up. If this was me, I'd try to 'undo' the installation and get the transmission working perfectly again, and then re-do the installation with a quality kit. A good shift kit is definitely nice to have.

The B&M kit will chirp if it's in a fresh box. You problem lies in either
the VB/spacer plate/ Modulator valves can get stuck too. So can the
valves in the govenor. You should take it out and get it working right
before it burns up the frictions$$$$

all I did was change the springs and drill one hole in the valve body as per instructions. guess I'll get a valve body from somewhere, and put it back stock then start over with a B&M kit, although theres a place in n.w. mo, that has rebuilds for 225.00 with exchange I think I'll have to check it out and have them put a b&m kit in a nother tranny what u guys think?
